PAEDIATRIC-OPHTHALMOLOGY
Pediatric ophthalmology is a sub specialty of ophthalmology dealing with children's eye diseases. The human visual system develops as the brain matures, a process that takes about ten years. Although a baby's eyes are optically capable of seeing, infant vision is limited to around 20/1500, in part because the brain has not learned how to process the visual messages it receives. As visual development proceeds, that same child will eventually be able to detect the finest details in an image.
RETINAL DETACHMENT
This occurs when a part of the retina detaches from the choroid, causing it to lose contact with one of its primary sources of nutrition - resulting in loss of vision
We use Topcon Fluorescein Digital Angiography Unit & Iris Argon-Green Laser Machine for Diagnosis & Treatment of Various Retinal Diseases. Retinal Detachment Surgery and Vitrectomy & VitreoRetinal Surgical facility with AMO Gemini Vitrectomy Machine are an added highlight.
PHACO
Phacoemulsification cataract surgery is a procedure in which an ultrasonic device is used to break up and then remove a cloudy lens, or cataract, from the eye to improve vision. The insertion of an intraocular lens (IOL) usually immediately follows phacoemulsification. Phacoemulsification, or phaco.
At Drishti we use to restore vision in patients whose vision has become cloudy from cataracts. In the first stages of a cataract, people may notice only a slight cloudiness as it affects only a small part of the lens, the part of the eye that focuses light on the retina. As the cataract grows, it blocks more light and vision becomes cloudier. As vision worsens, the surgeon will recommend cataract surgery, usually phaco, to restore clear vision. With advancements in cataract surgery such as the IOL patients can sometimes experience dramatic vision improvement.
